MY STORY
I have been working with clay in different ways over the years. My background is sculpture and drawing. After a Post-Graduate Diploma in sculpture at City and Guilds School of Art, I worked figuratively in clay and then cast into bronze from that. Drawing was also an important part of my work and continues to be so now.

AWARDS
The de Laszlo Award for Portraiture
The Madame Tussaud's Award for Sculpture.
Once my children were old enough, I decided to return to working with clay. I wanted to work more directly with it, to fire it, rather than cast from it. My aim is to bring a functional aspect and practical purpose to the work that I make. I now use the hand building techniques of coiling, pinching and slabbing. For me these allow the freedom of form that I want. They enable me to bring a sculptural element to functional vessels. My hope is to make pieces that are both beautiful and useful.
